Dutch Group Classes - terms & conditions

The Dutch language services offered by Dutch 4 Beginners (a trading name used by Jelle Hanse) are subject to the following Terms & Conditions. By booking our services, you constitute acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.

Dutch 4 Beginners provides online Dutch classes containing a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 8 students. We currently offer the following levels of classes;

  • Dutch 4 Beginners Complete Beginners Class (A0)

  • Dutch 4 Beginners Level 2 Class (A0-A1)

  • Dutch 4 Beginners Level 3 Class (A1)

  • Dutch 4 Beginners Level 4 Class (A1-A2)

  • Dutch 4 Beginners Level 5 Class (A2)

Each level comprises 20 classes of 60 minutes, with one class per week. The class will proceed to the next level after the completion of the first 20 classes, subject to a sufficient number of students signing up for the following set of 20 classes. Dutch 4 Beginners reserves the right to postpone, reschedule, merge or cancel a class where insufficient student numbers have enrolled. Where Dutch 4 Beginners cancels a class due to insufficient enrolment, students may choose either a full refund of any payments made for that class or transfer to an alternative class (subject to availability).

When a brand-new class does not reach the minimum required number of students by the advertised start date, then Dutch 4 Beginners reserves the right to delay the start date. If an already registered student wishes to withdraw their application, the cancellation policy below applies.

Dutch 4 Beginners reserves the right to recommend that a student join a different level where this is considered more suitable for the student's current ability. If an already registered student wishes to withdraw their application, the cancellation policy below applies.

New students may join the next level of classes once a level has been completed, or at the halfway point of 10 classes, on the condition that the student has sufficient knowledge of the previously covered learning material. To join a higher level without attending the previous level(s), it assumes that you already know the subjects covered in the previous level(s).

Dutch 4 Beginners may ask you to do the Dutch Language Tests associated with the previous level, to demonstrate that you master the previously covered subjects. You may be asked to join a lower level if the test results are insufficient to join the level.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE RATES?

Each class takes 60 minutes. The above rates are based on an online Dutch class, held via Google Meet. The above rates include the lesson material and homework exercises used in the classes. A digital copy of the lesson material will be shared digitally via Google Drive. You can print the provided lesson material. Dutch 4 Beginners does not provide printed lesson material

Extra material, such as writing utensils, stationery, language dictionaries, etc are not included in the above rate.

The above rates also include free access to our online vocabulary course. Details regarding this course will be supplied after the completion of your first class.

All the classes will be recorded, so that you can either catch up on missed classes or rewatch the class. These are stored on your dedicated student portal page, which also contains other useful links. Group class recordings will remain available until the completion of the current course level unless otherwise stated.

RESCHEDULING CLASSES

Students may request a rescheduling of a scheduled class. Dutch 4 Beginners will do its best to accommodate where possible, assuming that the other students agree and that Dutch 4 Beginners has the availability to reschedule. Dutch 4 Beginners will only consider rescheduling requests which have been requested at least 1 week before the date (during or before the previous week’s class) and will only reschedule if all involved parties can be available at the new time. If not, then the class will proceed at the original scheduled time.

Dutch 4 Beginners will do its utmost to provide the arrangements that have been confirmed; however, Dutch 4 Beginners must reserve the right to reschedule or cancel any classes if unforeseen circumstances arise. Dutch 4 Beginners will try to make reasonable alternative arrangements where possible.

NON-ATTENDANCE DURING CLASSES

The online Dutch classes are conducted via Google Meet. The classes will run for 20 consecutive weeks (unless otherwise specified by Dutch 4 Beginners), and the classes will proceed as scheduled, even if some students are unable to attend.

If, for some reason, a student can not attend or participate in a class, the student will not be reimbursed for the missed class. It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that they have a stable internet connection, a working microphone and webcam. If during the online class a student can not participate in the class due to a bad internet connection, broken webcam or faulty microphone, the class will carry on for the other students.

Technical issues affecting an individual student's ability to attend a group class shall not entitle the student to a refund or replacement class.

A non-attending / non-participating student can request an overview of what has been discussed during the missed class and homework exercises for the next class. That way, the student can catch up by doing self-study.

All the classes will be recorded, so that you can either catch up on missed classes or rewatch the class. These are stored on your dedicated student portal page, which also contains other useful links. No actual video files will be shared with the student, except as provided on the student portal

Students who miss a group class are not entitled to a refund, replacement class or transfer to another group. Where available, class recordings will be provided as an alternative.

Student Behaviour

Dutch 4 Beginners reserves the right to remove any student whose behaviour is disruptive, abusive, discriminatory, harassing or otherwise negatively affects the learning experience of other students. No refunds will be provided for any classes missed or forfeited as a result of removal from the course.

ALTERATIONS BY DUTCH 4 BEGINNERS

Dutch 4 Beginners will do its utmost to provide the arrangements that have been confirmed, but reserves the right to reschedule or cancel any group classes if unforeseen circumstances arise.

Where Dutch 4 Beginners cancels a group class, and no mutually acceptable alternative can be arranged, the class will be canceled and credit for the class will be added to the end of the booked set of Dutch group classes.

Dutch 4 Beginners reserves the right to make reasonable changes to lesson content, class order, course materials or class schedules where necessary.

Dutch 4 Beginners may use third-party platforms and software providers in the delivery of its services.

If within 48 hours before the first class, the first class will be charged, and any outstanding classes will be fully reimbursed.

If a new student is not satisfied with their very first class and wishes not to continue learning Dutch with Dutch 4 Beginners, and indicates this directly after their first Dutch class (within 2 hours of the end of the class), then we will only charge 50% for the first class and fully reimburse any advanced payments made for outstanding classes.

If a new student is not satisfied with their very first class and wishes not to continue learning Dutch with Dutch 4 Beginners, but does not indicate this directly after their first class, then the first class will be fully charged, and Dutch 4 Beginners will fully reimburse any advanced payments made for outstanding classes. If within 24 hours before the second class, the second class will be charged in full, and any following classes will be fully reimbursed.

Once a course has commenced and passed the 2nd class, a refund will not normally be provided, except where required by law or at the discretion of Dutch 4 Beginners.

Any refunds will be issued to the provided bank account details within 10 working days from our confirmation of the refund. For bank transfers outside the United Kingdom, additional time may be required due to bank processing time. This time may not be included in the aforementioned 10 working-day period.
