WHO AM I?

I’m Jelle Hanse-Ievolella, the founder of Dutch 4 Beginners, where I help students discover the Dutch language and culture. I teach both one-to-one lessons and online group classes to learners throughout the United Kingdom and Europe.

Originally from the Netherlands, I’ve lived in the UK since 2005. Alongside Dutch, I speak fluent English, advanced German and Italian, and basic French. I’m endlessly curious about other cultures and truly passionate about learning and teaching languages.

UNDERSTANDING Language students

My husband is Italian, so I’m currently learning Italian to communicate with his family. Being a language learner myself helps me understand the challenges my students face and what support they need from a tutor.

I design and use my own lesson materials in all my classes. Although many resources exist, I often find they lack inclusivity or don’t explain why something works the way it does. I believe that understanding the reasoning behind language structures makes learning more meaningful, so I ensure my materials always provide this clarity.

TAILORING THE LESSONS TO YOUR NEED

I’ve been teaching and training people for many years, and in 2015 I founded my own Dutch language school, Dutch 4 Beginners. Since then, I’ve had the pleasure of working with students of all ages, backgrounds, nationalities, and learning styles.

I’ve taught learners from 18 to 83 years old, and I firmly believe that anyone can learn a language at any stage of life. Every lesson is tailored to your personal learning style, pace, and goals, ensuring that your Dutch journey is both effective and enjoyable.
